Vinyl album. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’ is the full title of David Bowie’s fifth studio album. It was created as a concept album and rock opera around the main character, Ziggy Stardust, who is sent to earth as a saviour. It was released in June 1972 and has influences from contemporaries such as Lou Reed, Marc Bolan and Iggy Pop. The music is a period defining mix of glam rock and proto-punk, and the strength of the album along with a performance of the single ‘Starman’ on Top of The Pops propelled Bowie to real stardom.
This is the 2016 remastered stereo release pressed onto 180g vinyl.
